Finally spotted my first new Focus ST today.

Having previously owned and loved (My personal opinion others may vary) an ST I was highly unimpressed.
The orange looked very washed out, the rear lights looked all wrong and it didnt help it was a 5 dr.
I will admit I havent driven one but personally I dont care I think it looks horrid.

Are all Mk3's Foci 5 door now (not just the ST)? I think value for money it's an excellent car, would look so much better in 3dr. I'd still have the Megane 265 over any of the current hot hatches

Yup, no 3 door focus anymore, just the 5 door hatch, the 4 door saloon and the wagon.

As for the tail-lights, they are the same on the ST as on the regular hatch, and eye-wateringly hideous. Another thing i hate about the hatch (drive a wagon mk3) is the entire part of the boot you use to slam it shut is plastic, feels incredibly cheap.

i must admit, seeing one outside my local dealers I really aint keen on the colour (also a past owner of the 5-pot version).

When the original Astra VXT was launched, I really thought the first ST was a cut above in looks, unfortunately with this generation I think the reverse is true, Love the looks of the new VXR with the aero pack.

It has more power, so where's the problem?
Because power and bloaters dont make a good drive.

See Caterham...

Cars have been getting bloatier since i was young and hairy.

although cars have grown in the past 10-20 years i do thonk thay the growth has stopped lately despite the whingers on here. Most new models are lighter or the same as the previous one....

So no cars that weigh more than a Caterham is a good drive?

The Ferrari 458 is over 200kg heavier than the Focus.....it must be a shocking dog in the corners.
It's about the power to weight ratio Knobcheese

Not the point, all I said was that the current Focus is a bloater compared to earlier models.
I hate the fact that new models get bigger and lardier ith evry new iteration.

Im not saying its a bad car, just that its the size of an early Mondeo.

This new ST is truly hideous. I spotted a black one last week and it was just as bad as the orange one pictured. That's all I have to say.

Nope sorry mk1.5 was the best, the mk1 was revolutionary at the time and they perfected it with the facelift. It just got fat and blobby when the mk2 came out and the mk3 is even worse.

Also, one for the bad parking thread?

Ignore him, it's just his way. Bless.

he also appears to have completely missed the point that you are arguing.
