I parked up tonight in my local town, Wooler in Northumberland. Got out of the car and immediately two lads about 14 or 15 run up. 'I've always wanted to see one of these, V8 Vantage isn't it?' The lads were right almiost, so said, ' no just a v8' that didn't curb the enthusiasm of lad #1

'Can I take a picture?'

Slightly taken aback and thinking that actually 5 seconds later I would have been gone I said of course.

Then opened the door for them and let them inside.

Then Opened the bonnet and showed them the engine.

All the time lad #1 had his camera going.

Then from the car in front a 60 year old poked his head round the bonnet, 'could I have a look too'

Chat from all of them I left and went of the supermarket.

Came abck 10 mins later and the kids were still there, now with parents attached.

Quick chat and I get in, they walk of up the road and I start up, blip the throttle, pull out and pass them. Giivng a Parp of the horn on the way past. Look round and the lad is videoing me pulling away.

It's great to think that a car from 20 years before he was born, that gives me huge pleasure is giving others just as much, but just in a different way.

Exactly hoe I would be if I saw one, probably!
The car isn't on the same level, but when I owned my Allegro I got a bit of this, mainly old- middle aged men saying they used to have one. Was nice though.

How it should be, rather than what we so often see reported here, the mindless vandalism of cars, probably through jealousy.

Thanks! For once I wasn't 'Whoring' the car, just thinking how much pleasure it gives to everyone.(Hence I didn't put the picture up)

I have often let kids sit in the driver's seat of my RS...creates a memory for them for later.
I recall when I was quite young siting in a Facel Vega. It was so far beyond anything in my existence that it left me speechless. I never forgot the kind young bloke who was happy to show it to me.

Running costs on this one have been very small, mainly due to the fact that the previous two owners had spent quite a lot!
I will one day add up the invoices I have to see just how much, but I wouldn't expect much change from three figures!
My last one cost my £13k on Ebay, sold it two years later for £18k having spent £2k on it. My record of Aston ownership so far sees me in profit.....!

Long may it last.

That is why I do these things, give a kid an unforgettable experience and another petrolhead is born.

8 years ago I turned up to an AMOC event in my Series iii V8, I was ushered onto the lawn of a very smart house to park with the club members.

All the cars were locked and inacessible to the public, whilst the members formed their clique and talked. I stayed with my car and let kids sit in it. It was probably the most shabby Aston there, but he came up to me later and said 'Yours is my favorite'

Only because he could actually experience it in full.

Sometimes there is a realisation that not all kids are chavved up tossers!

I would like to think that the old crew on here, teach the young crew to act as the OP has stated.

Lovely lovely car OP.

Stunning car, for me the ultimate, hand formed, hand made engines, fantastic shape, made in England by craftsmen, perfect.

I am going to dream about my lottery win tonight that is going to allow me access to this, the most English of automobiles.
