My wife currently drives a Fiat Seicento which is okay but a little slow and not quite 'funky' enough !! She is a PH and wants something to replace it that's a bit different but still reliable and useful.

So far we have looked at bright yellow Micra's and thought about older Pink Toyota Starlets but not found one to look at yet.

Looking at a budget of £1,000 so we are talking cars about 10 years old.

Any suggestions??

Again out of budget, but I had a smart roadster, and they are fabulous little cars! My brother has just picked one up, and you can get a decent one for about 3k. They've got a 700cc turbo charged engine and although not the fastest, tey're cheap to insure and low road tax, so plenty of bang for your buck!

£1600?! eek In 2005 when I bought my Clio RSi there was a red '97 Starlet SR sitting next to it for just under 2k. On reflection after my Clio bit the dust I wished I bought that instead...

The SR only came in white or black. I suppose it could've been painted.

Anyway, I loved my little Starlet. I suppose things have moved on a bit since 1998 but the engine was willing considering its mighty 74 horses but it was small, light and drove well enough. Although a Solida, I had the SR suspension and wheels on it, Eagle F1 rubber, it stuck like glue to the road.

My favourite part is the "custom boot build", otherwise known as nail a load of stty 6x9s to a board, throw some mismatched subs in and hope for the best. Bet it sounds fantastic though...

It could have been, was definitely a 1.3 though. Unfortunately I was too attracted to the mighty 110bhp 1.8 8v engine stuffed under the Clios bonnet laughfrown

ETA couple of SRs on fleabay within budget http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/Cars-/9801/i.html?_nkw=T...

There are a few Ka's in the PH classified's in budget.

I also thought of a Toyota Yaris, but the sub-£1k ones on PH have all been sold.

Is this Suzuki Ignis 'funky'?

Your best bet's a Ka, it tickies all the boxies.
