I have just got my car back from a front end respray, car parking dent removal and full machine polish.

As you can imagine, I was quite excited about getting the car back, expecting it to look mint again... Well, the front end looks great, it is all very shines but the dent removal, well, let's just say they are still there.

I was probably expecting too much, expecting them to have all dissappeared like magic but instead, they are all slightly better but certainly, all still there.

Was I expecting too much or is this the norm for dent master type repairs?

Surely it should be invisible.
My wife dinged one her cars while I was away.
She called one of those home repair firms, they did the job on the drive and I was totally amazed how good it was when I got home.

That's what I thought. All of the dents are still visible, as if they have moved the metal around but not actually ironed it out.

Presumably though, they are never perfect?

A paid dent-repair-professional should be able to take away the appearance of a dent by whatever means he feels necessary.

Its like a tyre-supplier should be able to take away the appearance of a flat tyre.

It sounds like I need to go back or try another dent repair company... Any one have any suggestions in the Nottingam area?

Just re-read my post, sorry to sound so blunt about it but its fact. Good luck with future repairs, such is life . . .

It depends on where the dent is, and the shape.

I have used a very good dent guy locally to me, several times.

A spoon shaped dent he got out and it was virtually invisible.

Another one he did for me was more of a crease, and very difficult to get to due to the position, he spent ages on it and once he had done his best it was 99% out, but as the metal had 'stretched', you could still see the light bounce off it differently, but you had to look very hard, and know where it was.

Is that the "Ding King" thing or whatever it's called?
Tempted to try it, but read about some cases where people have said it can pull paint off the car.

About a week after I passed my test I reversed my car into a gate post boxedin, completely caving in the passenger door. A friends body shop and £120 later and you wouldn't have a clue that there was ever any damage at all. Take from that what you will but I'd say you've not received the service you paid for..

The success of dent removal depends on location of the dent and skill of the technician.

Some dents are too close to a seam, blocked by impact protection bars, or part of a double skin that is too close to get behind with the pdr tools.

A skilled tech can normally remove most dents though. Try someone else.
