I fear the Anti-Overtaking Society may be expanding the scope of its operations. Joining the A14 this morning (3 lane stretch past Newmarket) I followed another car down the slip road. Silver Citroen, taxi licence plate on the back. He wombled down the slip road making no attempt to accelerate, so I hung back to give myself plenty of room - the A14 is pretty busy at that time of day.

Taxi man ambled out into lane 1 and settled down to a steady 45 mph. Quick look in the mirrors and there is a great big lump of traffic coming up fast behind in all three lanes. So I indicated, moved into lane 2 and accelerated up to Doris's usual 0.8 lepton cruising speed. At which point there is a big puff of filthy black diesel smoke out of the back of the taxi as he boots it. Fair enough, driver has woken up and realised he is on a dual carriageway, not Newmarket High Street. As I passed him I looked across and he was red-faced and mouthing something at me. I can't lip-read but I don't think he was wishing me a happy birthday.

The moment I am past he pulls into lane 2 (nothing ahead in lane 1), right on my back bumper. I just have time to think 'great, road rage nutter, what do I do now' when I realise he is slowing down sharply, and in my mirror I can see all the traffic bunching up behind him. So I carry on with this idiot doing his best to create a rolling road block behind me. If you found yourself in slow-moving traffic on the A14 eastbound just after 8.30 this morning, you now know why.

I understand the PH rules - any traffic incident is always the fault of the OP. So what did I do wrong?
