I'm not in the habit of making personal attacks here, and I'll quite happily allow any of the PH 'powers that be' to delete/relocate this thread if it crosses a line, but I'm just getting fed up of this guy's 'contribution' to General Gassing.
Every time I see what seems like an interesting thread (like the one on hot rods), I just have this unerring dread that it will be cluttered up with this guy's tourettes-like contributions, dragging it off into a completely unrelated sh*tfight which he cannot seem to back down from.

While I'm sure he means well, and wants to be considered as someone who is 'a pillar of knowledge in the PH community', I surely can't be the only one who wishes he would tone it down from time-to-time.

Below is an example of a 'what car' thread completely taken over by 300bhp, who saw fit to bluntly dissect the OP's motivations and make insinuations about how genuine he was. The guy (Animala) merely came on to discuss the relative merits of a few cars, and was subject to "are you sure you can afford it", and "I smell a rat".
This was all within the first page.

A quick scan through his (frankly scary) posting history shows that he accounts for upwards of 1-in-10 post on some threads. While this might seem 'helpful', I just feel like the volumes of spam that we have to endure on here are ruining what might otherwise be quite interesting discussion.

Maybe that's just how things read. Doesn't mean that's the aim. But seriously you find nothing odd in a person comparing a £5000 WRX to a £13,000 911? Even more so when they claim they are only doing 5100 miles a year and then are worried about too much servicing on an Evo.

I truly hope they can afford it and end up with a nice car.
And there you go a again "I truly hope they can afford it". maybe you don't know your doing it but every post is condescending and quite creepy how you over analyzing people.

Jesus Christ, I'm sure you mean well but for fk's sake, do you ever give it a rest?

Sorry but I stick to what I said you come across as condescending, arrogant and trying to make people look silly seems like a few others agree on here reading past threads. Good luck op with your car the Evo would be the one for me I've drove a wr1 before my mate sold it to get the Evo and he prefers the 8.

The Evo needs servicing every 4,500 miles, just found out, maybe someone can verify that? That's what I was concerned about. And like I said before, I don't just drive to and from work. I tend to go out and have a life. This may be an alien concept to someone who has nothing better to do on a Sunday night than pick apart someones perfectly innocent question and try and make it seem like some massive conspiracy.

Like I said, the 911 was a wildcard and if you don't have any useful/helpful insight into any of the cars listed then please kindly fk off some place else and try and pick apart someone else's thread.

Thanks =)

Agreed. Used to be fine recomminding some crazy Americana instead of a Micra. But now every post i've notice he comes across as a really condisending git. Everyone everywhere must have a 100% knowledge on how cars work and function.

No, it's not just you. I mostly lurk here and only recognise a few of the big contributors by their username, but constantly get quite fed up at the incessant stream of judgemental, insinuating, argumentative, I-have-an-answer-for-everything posts by this guy/girl/entity.

I'd thoroughly recommend a read of the 'Buying a Cheap Bentley Conti GT' thread.

It's been a while since I lasted used the report button. I just ignore people when they get silly.

Sort of like in real life, but easier because they aren't real.

I don't think posters like 300 are the problem with PH personally. Yes his posts don't always come across that well and I've had my fair share of 'heated discussions' with him over the years but I don't see that he is ever particularly offensive and he does have a genuine passion for the subject.

At the end of the day 'variety is the spice of life' and all that, and no-one is forced to either read or respond to his posts.

I'm actually quite fond of him nowadays. You can pretty much guess which threads he is going to post on in advance and have a fair idea of what his posts are likely to contain.

I often check out threads I wouldn't normaly bother with just to find out what crazy tangent he has sent them off on or who he is currently winding up. smile

like the pink slime on ghost busters 2, some posters feed on emotion. to point this out only makes the posters stronger. you have know started a whole thread where the chap in question is fully within in his right to take on all folk who enter the fray.
to be honest, i notice he is at the centre of alot of "chat" but then again, its fairly easy to ignore anything you dont agree with.

as a side note,i wanted to try and make a post where i could fit "if you bulid it they will come" line in it(that baseball dead guy film from the 80s) but i couldnt shoe horn it in anywhere.

The thread where he boasted about having 'kept up' with a TVR in his Smart Roadster was a good one. Shame the TVR didn't realise he was trying. Most of the stuff he posts is quite inane though. A lot of his time seems to be spent dreaming up new insults and insinuations about other posters from his home in his mother's basement.

Believe me, this was not my intention - this was intended as a balanced, objective view. I've tried to reason with this guy in the past, and have always avoided personal attacks of any sort. It's just something that seriously impinges on the enjoyment of this place (for myself and many others), and something which could easily be addressed.

Most forums have a "ignore" feature, though i'm not sure there is one on this forum.

I don't mind his contributions if i'm honest, usually someone asking a what car for their gran and he suggests an American v8 is funny.

He absolutely blasted me for suggesting that before I passed my test I practiced on an old mud/concrete track that was in the countryside, because the odd person walked down it. He got all the more angry when I suggested that everyone in the country does it, and I taught my sister in the same way.

I personally would like to see an 'ignore' feature, as everytime I see him posting in a thread I immediately close it, as it's obviously ruined.

It was fine when he was suggesting V8's to 17 year old's looking for a Corsa, but now it's just nonsense.
