Selling a previously clocked car

I'll try to keep this one brief:

The sister in law bought a 2006 330d about two years ago which was subsequently found to have had a haircut at some point in it's life (plus forged documents etc.). She only found out when the mot history was picked up by her garage (they estimated it had been taken from 120,000mi to 60,000mi ).

Despite it never missing a beat she's having a mid life crisis and wants to swap it for a Z4. What's the best way of getting rid of the 330?

Obviously she will be up front about it's history to whoever takes it off her hands but i'm guessing she'd have a hard time getting rid of it privately and may get bent over by a dealer in part ex (although I guess she is expecting as much). It's currently on 85,000mi (145,000mi!).

Any suggestions?

You have answered your own question - be honest about it - expect to take a hit becuase you don't know the exact mileage.

Just advertise it as having a new speedo fitted at 60k, and make sure you state the real mileage.

Unlike the car I went to view at a dealers recently which was advertised as having 85k miles, but only when looking through the service history did I see a note stating 'new speedo fitted at 70k'. Ah, so the car has actually done 155k!
