Earliest I can tax a vehicle this month?

I have a vehicle that has been declared SORN only for a couple of months but I fancy getting it back on the road again.

The month ends on Fri 31st August.

When is the earliest date this month I could present at a Post Office with the MOT and insurance documents and payment and get a 12month tax disc to start from September?

If I applied for tax online, would there be a difference in this date?

If your vehicle is already taxed and you want to renew, you can do so from the 5th of the month.

If you want a September tax disc on a vehicle not currently taxed, you'll need to tax it on up to two days before at a post office, or five days before online.
