Am looking at flat options and one would mean I'd be within distance of walking to work (i.e its 200 yards away laugh) now even I can get my lazy arse to walk that far. And I would imagine I would keep the motorbike for weekend hooning and possibly sell the cars for a while to save up some cash for something interesting. How long does my NCB (I'd have 4 years) stay valid for?

  • Other option is to get a flat 50 miles from work and commute

A lot of insurers will take up to a two year gap, some three. No option of buying and insuring a wreck to keep your no claims ticking over?

I once went 15 months without a toy insured in my name and my previous insurers told me my NCB would be valid for two years from the date of cancellation. When I bought the new toy I insured it with a specialist and my previous insurers dropped them a note to confirm my NCD with them at cancellation of my policy and the new insurer honoured this.

To be safe I'd call your current insurers and see what they say as this was about 3 years ago and things could have changed by now.
