Hi All

so basically i passed my driving test 18 months ago, i love driving etc but about 6 months ago I got 3 points for speeding, rather unfair to be honest 35 in a 30 I was really worried and the copper told me if I didnt take his fixed penalty and points that he would send me to court and I would lose my licence, obviously unwittingly i just took them and got on with it. now the other day i was pulling out of my work premises, there is a hedge on my left as i leave and you cant see a thing on the left as you pull out onto a busy road. last saturday i was pulling out trying to turn left so i couldnt see a thing on my left, a car on my right flashed me to pull out so i looked left(to the best i could) to see nothing i looked right and the car flashed me again and i checked my mirror and moved off unfortunatly some idiot wasnt looking where he was walking and as i moved off he emerged from behind the hedge and i hit him with the front nearside of my car, it was only less than 5 mph but it caused him to fall over etc and he started going mad and hitting my car etc (no damage though) i checked he was ok and went away, later in the day the police arrived obviously which i expected and took a statement from me for an RTC they said they had interviewed us both over the incident and had to send the paperwork off so that a decision can be made. the officer wouldnt tell me what to expect as an outcome but i am really worried that i will lose my licence over this quite clearly an acciddent, as i already have 3 points i am only aloud 3 more before i have to retake my test as it was under 2 years ago or they might ban me. the annoying thing is my car is litterally my life, i am a self employed cafe owner and it is my only way of getting to the cash and carry etc and without it i would have to give it all up and it would seriously impact my life. what can i do to solve this is there a way i can make somebody see what it means to me and that it was quite clearly an accident or am i seriously fked? any ideas guys?

Sadly he is in his first two years, so 3 or more points from this incident will mean a licence revocation frown .

You dont get points for knocking people over, you get points for dangerous driving. If it was a genuine mistake, you will be fine.

I know, but 3 points would be pretty harsh for that.

Take a big breath, picture Harry Enfield's 'in't milk brilliant' character, and try to say it all in a 'one-er'.

At least all the time you will have to spend on public transport can be used to improve your writing skills, so it's not all bad.

When his car is the only way to earn his living, it pretty much is. Don't you think?

If that is the case, he should be more careful when driving.

Just because someone has flashed you, doesn't mean you can go.

I doubt that you'd get any points and, IIRC, if proven that your car is absolutely necessary for your work, they won't take your license. I'm sure someone will correct me though.

In future, please try to use basic punctuation such as full-stops and paragraphs. It's difficult to read, let alone understand.

I will start by saying that I sympathise with your
Now, firstly, the first three points were not unfair. You admitted yourself that you were speeding - it's the law, and not some obscure, generally-unknown clause.

Secondly, to the best of my knowledge, this is not something for which you can receive points.
