Cars that look disappointing in real life thread
Discussion
I'll get the ball rolling...I saw a 458 Italia last week, now I liked the look of them from the pictures, but seeing it in the flesh was underwhelming to say the least. It looked really plasticy and cheap, especially from behind.

What cars have you seen that you've thought 'wow' from the images, but have looked less impressive in the flesh?

I'd agree with the 458. Was not overly impressed when I got in one.
I love Lamborghini's, but when I finally got to drive a Gallardo on a supercar experience day it was a bit of a let down. Loved the speed, but I think the car was getting on a bit (plates and tacho where covered). Brakes were heavy, gear paddles felt like something from a logi-tech steering wheel, buttons where faded and scratch and the leather looked awful. Steering felt pretty lifeless too.
Always hated Ferraris, but the 360 spyder completely changed my mind, which is sort of the opposite story to this thread.

I drove a 360 and felt that the interior didnt feel a million miles away froma Fiat Coupe, which essentially it is I love Lamborghini's, but when I finally got to drive a Gallardo on a supercar experience day it was a bit of a let down. R8 Spyder.
I loved my R8 Coupe, and really wanted to love the Spyder as I generally prefer the rag top version of just about any car, and would generally choose it over the Coupe version.
It is "OK", but underwhelming. Without the contrasting blades, the "on-show" engine, and the overall lines of the Coupe, it disappoints.

Interesting. I had an R8 coupe but still think the Spyder is a gorgeous looking car.I loved my R8 Coupe, and really wanted to love the Spyder as I generally prefer the rag top version of just about any car, and would generally choose it over the Coupe version.

I put to you the Bentley Continental, now that is a s
te looking car imo.For me it's the GT86... done a lot of driving recently and seen 3-4 in the flesh. Really not impressive, no road presence imo and the ginger colour is just horrific (as it ususally is on any car tbh)
When I got to my destination, a 370Z pulled up near my car and I couldn't stop staring at it! Gorgeous in comparison.

The new Mercedes CLS. The old one was gorgeous, the new on looks like a Vauxhall Insignia.
Couldn't agree more. Overdone flame surfacing is pain in the chufter.Edited by Earl'Dingleberry on Thursday 16th August 12:38
The new XJ,has ungainly hints of the 90's facelift Scorpio, although the LWB with 20" wheels is much better.
Agreed also on the 458, simply looks to bling for me, however the black Aventador I saw in Danbury at the weekend had SUPERCAR all over it.
