Help me choose....old/bargey/sheddy/likely to end in tears..

Budget is 2k tops so before anybody says it I KNOW i'll be looking at crusty stuff, BUT all of the below i have found with ticket and test in budget.
Car will be weekend/evening and economy isn't an issue; only must in classic policy insurable, which all are. I'm spanner handy with tools and a good workshop so again...not an issue.
Ideally I'd like to get my money back in 12 months or at least not lose too much!
So...thoughts...
1- Jag SIII

Wafty option, love them! seen a few 4.2's in budget.
2- XJS

Had one before, a late minty Celebration. I know this time it won't be such a peach but seen tidy facelifts for the money.
3- Merc SEC

The above is my old one...say no more
4- Merc 250 CE

Always wanted a classic Merc, think these are so pretty. For the money this option would be the roughest but may stretch budget. Happy to buy a running tinterking project.
5- MGB GT

Most practical and cheapest to run, also hold it's value the best?

Although the old Merc's do have a certain style.
