Ok, disclaimer, each to there own and that but seriously what actually goes through peoples heads to arrive at,

http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/classifieds/use...

these are a bit of a monstrosity anyway, it probably didn't need that treatment to get people to start anyway, saw a guy get out of one of these at the local Chinese takeaway, to be fair he had the decency to look a little embarrassed, like he would have preferred being spotted getting out of a Sheep.

Or, what mental process makes people think that it is a great idea to try and pass off a Chrysler 300 C as a Bentley, it is a nice enough car, why try to fool people it is something better, you go from looking like the owner of a half decent car to an utter tit.

Is there a reason why an RR Sport isn't perhaps distinctive enough so they get the Kahn treatment.

Like I said, each to their own, is there a taste hormone, do some people have a deficiency where they think a bright yellow 300 ZX needs a massive bodykit, do some people not have enough and think the epitome of taste is something silver, German and diesel ?

Not condemning anyone and am by no means perfect, just trying to understand what the factors are that go towards the extremes ?

Culture
Age
Gender
Financial
Mental illness ?

I think that most 'stock' cars are quite vulgar these days - the manufacturers have removed any taste at source.

I saw a boggo diesel Audi A5 yesterday, and I was struck by how much more aggressive and 'in your face' the styling was than that of my old B6 S4 (which actually has the goods under the bonnet to match its (much more subtle) looks). I don't know what this is all about, but it's a nasty trend imho.

I would happily drive that Hummer around. More interesting than most things out there.

With you on this. I can't help but think that the mentality of wanting an 'aggressive' car is very close to the mentality of being aggressive to other road users - surely not something we want on our roads.

Too much money.
Too many footballers as role models.
Too little brain cells.
Too much watching West Coast Customs on telly.
That'll do for starters...

I can only agree. The idea of replacing the badges on a Chrysler 300 with Bentley badges is the strangest one. Does it really fool anyone?

Yes. Folks who aren't Petrolheads. My daughter, for instance.

OP, don't whatever you do go to a classic car show where the Ferrari kit cars are exhibiting. Tatton Park had a show on Sunday and there were quite a few replicas there that would make your hair curl !!

Was there, did indeed see the Italian replica club, quite liked the 944 based 250, I guess an mr2 based 355 is at least taste wise aiming for 355.

It's the bumper that really ruins it, still tasteless no doubt but the bumper extends it into boke territory.

Interesting that the dealer's website does not include this car and has some nice motors including an E-Type. I am always suspicious when it says being sold on behalf of a customer and then they stick it on PH which the owner could have done himself. It is exceedingly crass.

I agree. I don't like anything Shelby nor the way they get unimaginative stripes by default but at least it started as a coupe - this is akin to fitting a body kit to a Chieftain tank.

Years ago you could not easily buy body kits and add ons for expensive cars.......only for a chav chariot chavalier

They do it now to more prestigious cars because they can
