I just found out that one of my new colleagues at work has a DeLorean and actually drives it around. Its his main car / daily driver etc.

definitely a penis extension than a drivers car

I have driven one and to be honest the steering and handling reminded me of the time I drove a Fire engine.

Ask him what happens when he reaches 88mph. I bet he's never heard that one before

Funnily enough i've just rewatched the BTTF trilogy. The DeLorean in the films makes a hell of a nice rumble, what engine do they have?

Since in real life they had a fairly weedy v6.

Hollywood has a habit of doing that. I think it was the Matrix film, but if memory serves they put the soundtrack of an IL4 bike engine onto footage of a Ducat 916 V-Twin frown

Truly horrible cars in every sense of the word. Unlucky enough to have driven two of the damn things. An experience that i never want to have again. Ever!

And Starsky and Hutch's (the 70's TV series) Ford Torino had a V8 soundtrack over it's V6. And I guess we don't talk about Fast and furipunch

In contrast, I love them. I think it's probably an age thing. Of the Maggie era = crap experiment, awful car. Back to the future era = cool car with futuristic styling and genuinely unique. Younger than that = old crap car that isn't a corsa with a redtop engine in it.

They say never meet your heroes. It applies to most legendary cars too... very few live up to the dream in real life.

Just had to check that and it sounds like a V to me, especially at idle.

And it was a 996 wink

Daft as that sounds, a very rare 6 cyl version was used for filming the Ben Stiller movie.

Wikipedia says this but what about the 70s show?
