I've just had a call from a guy in Germany about my TVR which is for sale, and I’m not sure how the deal would work?

What’s the best method of taking payment and making sure I don’t get scammed ?

Is there anything i need to do differently selling to someone in Europe ?

I have sold tractors to overseas buyers (mainly to Finland of all places). It is quite straight forward as for the money as you can request an international payment to your bank account. If you ask your bank they can provide the details.

Nothing left the yard until I had the funds cleared. It has then either had collection arranged at the buyers expense or I took it to the port where it was then taken by the new owner.

As for the paperwork there is a section on the V5 about permanent export, I send this with a covering letter stating the date of sale and name/address of new owner.

Same as any other buyer - they come and look then pay cash or a bank transfer and collect when it's cleared.

Typically they want the entire V5.

(So just send a letter to the DVLA or fill in the Trade part)

A chap came from Germany to buy my DC2. Met him at the ferry port, we exchanged Euros for Pounds in the town centre and he drove my car home. Easy.
