Toyota GT86 - rip off in the UK?
Discussion
In the UK the GT86 is around £25k basic.
The local Toyota franchise here in Saudi Arabia has just launched the Toyota '86' and the starting price is less than £17k!

Even using a worst case exchange rate (SAR 5.6:1.0 GBP) the price for a basic one is still less than £18,000!
I know there are variations around the world but that's 32% cheaper!

I expect there to be a booming grey market for all these cheap imported GT86s. Hoorah!
Unless it's because of taxes and stuff in which case it's not really a rip off and there won't be loads of cheap imports.
Edit to add: Also it's too slow, and cost the same as a secondhand M3. There, now all the millions of GT86 threads have the same content.

Comparing prices of an individual car in different coutires is pointless. Differnet markets, differend taxes, LHD/RHD - any comparison will be a waste of time.
If you want to show that the GT86 is overpriced than the easieest way is to compare the price to a similair car in different markets.
E.g.
In Australia - GT86 = 20k vs Mazda 3 MPS = 27k
In the UK - GT86 = 25k vs Mazda 3 MPS = 24k
So yeah, either in Australia the GT86 is ridiculously under-priced or in the UK it is overpriced. Compare with other vehicles in other markets and you get the idea...

Additional - that is for the base spec model, but even the top-of-the-line version GT86 is only 23k. All prices in GBP.If you want to show that the GT86 is overpriced than the easieest way is to compare the price to a similair car in different markets.

Well this is just depressing. I'd love one. At £16k I'd probably work out how to get a good finance deal on one. But at £25k it's out of reach.
I figure I'll have to wait 3-5 years, and see what they are going for when they fall out of the current finance deals.
I know what you mean. Even at that price a GT86 out here would be wasted. The roads are all straight and wide, trackday opportunities are few and far between and you would need xray vision to see through all the SUVs in the way.I figure I'll have to wait 3-5 years, and see what they are going for when they fall out of the current finance deals.
(Also I'd always be slightly annoyed at the decent mpg when petrol is only 10p a litre for the good stuff!)
