I'm still trying to find a decent Focus ST2 for £8,000 and not having much luck, mainly because I want to go through a dealer to get part ex and a warranty.
So, while I'm still looking I'm starting to look around at other fun cars to have - any ideas? I can't stand MX-5s btw and don't want a 'classic' old car wink
I've asked before but restricted the choices, so now I'm opening it up.

Depends what you are after. A RS Twingo is fun and will give you plenty of change, plus PX and Warranty...but isn't as quick as an ST2, but that might not matter.

Astra VXR. You'll get a better condition one with lower miles for the same money as the Focus, and if you search round you'll get one with full leather.

If you want something more fun to drive though then buy a DC5 Integra biggrin

Dead on the first roundabout, but it would be worth it...

Well that's the thing, I had a list of cars I didn't want before and it just meant I restricted the search too much. Let's just say bigger than a Fiesta but smaller than a Mondeo - roughly Focus sized with 4 seats.

Cheers guys, as models appear on here I'm jumping on AT to see what's close by so I can go to see the ones I like.

Any more?

Meh.

Buy private, and get the MP260 conversion.

Never found a dealer with a warranty that was worth the paper it was written on.

OP

I was looking recently for a 'hot hatch', i could'nt decide what i wanted, all i knew was something 'ok' on fuel, a bit different & under 7 seconds (coming from a Scenic i wanted something with a bit of poke).
I looked at Focus ST2's, Megane 225's, Fiesta ST's, Clio Sports & finally ended up with something completely left field.
A Smart Forfour Brabus, 5 doors, lovely interior & drives well, even if it is a bit under-steery!
Fuel isn't too bad & i regularly have strangers comment on what a nice car it is!

An EP3 Civic Type-R would be my choice. It's still the most fun I've had from the driving wheels being ahead of me and they're really good value now too. Failing that why not look at a DC5 integra? Not a hatchback but can offer what they can and a bit more too. 197 Clios could be another option?
