What's the shortest time you have owned a car before you have traded it in or sold it on?

A week ago I impulse bought a Clio 182, I did have a look at a few a while ago and have wanted one for a while... But since having it I don't think it's the car for me and already considering selling it or trading it in for some thing else.

My shortest before that was a 106 on ITB's that lasted 2-3months. And my current(old)car MK4 Golf GTI is the worse/dullest car I have but I have kept that the longest at nearly 3 years but with 130K its starting to fall apart a bit... laugh

Anyone else bought a car and wanted to get rid of it straight away?

After I bought my WRX I immediately got the bug and bought an STi after about a week, decided it was just totally wrong for me and got rid of it after a long weekend.

Years ago I needed a car in a hurry, bought a MKIV Escort 1.4l that was for sale round the corner, got it home and realised I had made a mistake, sold it to a friend of the OH that evening.

Bought on Bay of E, realised it was a mistake (I still have too many of them!), collected it and sold to a friend that was with me to collect it.

Wrote off a 77 Dolomite Sprint whilst taking it home after just buying it. Between Grantown and Forres, north east Scotland, fast drive across the Dava moor road. Must have been owned less than 30mins. Was around 1990.

I can see that being easily done. Stunning road, but with a few deceptive corners across the moor.

I remember my father telling me he had a Datsun 240Z and then traded in in for another Datsun

two hours after collecting his Nissan 280ZX he took it back and got his 240 back and his money

you wouldn't get far if you tried to do that now

Not time-wise, but distance wise i probably have a good one, about 50 yards. Bought a cinquecento sporting with a borked headgasket, had it delivered, but the van+trailer couldnt enter the street i live in, so they offloaded it around the corner, i then drove it about 50 yards untill it was sat in my garage, where it is currently sitting stripped and awaiting the angle grinder.

shame really, but i did learn a lot of spannering with it before i decided to chop it, and some more spannering whilst chopping it.

Triumph had old well-dodgy tyres on it. Know the road very well, like a roller-coaster, great driving road, had a go last week in a Micra 998!

Rolled poor Sprinty.

Not a car but a bike, a Honda VFR400. Fantastic race rep which I owned for about 2 hours. I took it back to the shop when I realised that it was too small for me and as it was to be used as a day to day bike, I'd end up with a bad back, wrists, knees etc.

You didn't get test rides back then, early 90s, but the shop was happy to give me a full refund.
