That poor car. smoking, covered in powder. Bet the owner even had a name for it. Amy probably wink Hope he'd told his insurers.

He did seem to keep going for rather a long time. Hazards on, so presumably they knew something was wrong, merrily fanning the flames...

He was trying to drive off the track I think, presumably for insurance reasons.

General advice is not to open the bonnet but to fire the extinguishers in through the grille, opening the bonnet just gives air to the fire.

It's rental car from Hertz, registered after June 2012. Normally, in Germany insurances do not exclude TF in their conditions; however, it might well be possible that Hertz excludes use of their vehicles on race tracks under any conditions.

Would the driver have to pay any fees to the 'ring, other than recovery? I know giving the armco a clout is expensive, not sure how they deal with this type of thing.
