There is a guy who lives opposite me who has the tax disk in the top right side of his windscreen, (ie. top corner in front of the driver)..... can your tax disc be anywhere on your windscreen or is it supposed to be bottom left corner like every other car i've ever seen?

every time i see his car it annoys me (irrational i know), its not even right in the top corner, from the marks on his window its half in his windscreen wipe area, and stuck on with sellotape! in the position where the tax disc should be he has an array of pay and display tickets and a baby on board sticker that has been there years by the look for it.

just wondered if there is any rule everyone else sticks it bottom left corner, or if its just common sense as it least interferes with drivers vision there....

I think there is a rule saying left hand side, so it's visible from the kerb, but it might be a recommendation only.

I display mine in the top right hand corner, not really sure why but I do. Never had any problems with it being there.

lol - ok that outdoes this guy...

i wonder if theres a rule to say you cant have it (or anything else) inside the field of vision, there must be surely, otherwise you could just stick your tax disc over those windscreen chips that fail your MOT.... smile

Mines behind the rear view mirror, slightly to the left of centre. It's technically on the left and clearly readable from the kerb, but doesnt obscure my field of vision at all.

Never had any problems with it being there.

"Your vehicle tax disc must be displayed on the passenger side (kerb side) of the vehicle’s windscreen."

i can cope with that, theres a logic to it and its not in your field of view. Never realised there would be anyone else who had it not in the bottom left corner!

Makes sense to me, it obeys the written law and removes a blind spot completely. Police saw it and made no comment when checking disc so i'm happy with that.

Annoys me when you have a windscreen replaced and they take off the main dealer/manufacturer holder and replace with insurance company one.

The best place for the disc is buried in the history books. I do wish they'd scrap the requirement to stick a bit of paper on your windscreen now the database exists.

If a tax disc in the bottom left hand corner of your windscreen obstructs your view, you must be sitting very uncomfortably.......

But a high windscreen usually means high seat also, or else you'd have serious problems.

Don't have problems but sometimes have to move about a bit especially if you have the spare wheel on the bonnet because you can't see the end of the nearside wing. The windscreens on series Land Rovers aren't very tall so I always put the tax disc top left, also the ride height is quite high so you find yourself looking slightly down as well so the tax disc is always in the way if in bottom left, not to a dangerous extent but a nuisance extent.

Or when you take your car for a service at a main VW dealer and replace the nice, plain holder you've spent your own money on with a huge, branded holder.

Sure, over here in Italy they display a valid insurance cert (small green square) which is more useful from a public standpoint.
