Hi all,

I listed my bike on ebay, and within half an hour I received an email asking about the bike.

austinmoore691@gmail.com : is this still available for sale and what your best price

to which I replied : Hi,Yes its still for sale, its up for £1850

He then replied from a different email;

austin_moore3221@hotmail.com : It's good to read from you, just to let you know that i'm okay with the condition and price of this item, i'm seriously interested and ready for its purchase. Sorry i will not be able to deal locally as im a Petroleum Engineer once again I would have love to deal locally view what i'm buying face to face and pay in cash but i'm always BUSY at work, so my form of payment will be by paypal because i don't have access to my bank account online (i also don't have internet banking with it), I have my bank account attached to my PayPal account, and this is why i insisted on using PayPal to pay, all i will need to process the money into your paypal account is your PayPal e-mail address and if you don't have a PayPal account yet, you can set one up at www.paypal.com it won't take you less than 5mins to do that.
I have a Private Courier Service agent ready to PICK It UP at your location and the Courier Service money will be included in your payment to avoid delay and to enable Courier Service to schedule an appropriate time for the pick-up at your location after the money has been successfully been transferred into your PayPal account This is not my first time doing this so i have everything under control.
If you also have some more pictures, might want to have a good look. Please do get back to me with your PayPal e-mail and full name on so i can make out payment ASAP. I want your honesty in return to my faithfulness to you during this transaction. Your immediate response is really appreciated.
Kind regards,

To which I replied : No thanks, Cash only.

and then almost instantly he sent the same email again.

I read on another post that someone had received the same email just with a slightly different story.
I've reported him to ebay.

If he really wanted it he could just click "buy it now"...

biggrin

I'm selling a bike also. I get several of these every day, so I chose not to start a thread about it.

Standard scam mate. I'm surprised that you weren't expecting to receive them when you put your bike up on ebay.

Unless you've been on a different planet this scam has been going on for years.

Almost as good as The old classic; I will send you a cheque for twice the price and you can post my change with my goods as I'm away right now.

I had two dozen or more of these when I sold a car 18 months ago. Is anyone seriously dull enough to fall for it??

If I pay twice the amount and arrange for a friend to collect it can you send my change back with him?

This is good as there are a lot of things I dont have, such as internet banking, but I do have a private courier service waiting outside the ISS to pick this up and I will pay you three times the ammount to organise this.

You should reply saying you sold it to the previous scammer and it's already been shipped.

Thought paypay was secure unlike western union etc? Dont tell me they can pull it back from paypal now aswell? Otherwsise the only issue is proving it was collected and thats dubious when its listed for collection but handled correctly with reputable company should be ok.Or am i missing something here?
