My foot pump died

My trusty Michelin Twin-Barrel Footpump died over the weekend so need to get something new.

An I better staying with the same or are the 12v inflators any good?

Got a 12v one bought cheap at Aldi does the job had it about 3 years now no problems previous 12v pump lasted 15/20 years bought with Tiger tokens (remember them?)Only chucked it because the hose was split and the offer was on in Aldi could probably have been fixed.

I had to replace mine this summer, the hose had perished, it
cost a lot more than when I last got one, that's inflation said the chap in the shop.

I would stay with the foot pump. If you get a puncture and a flat battery at the same time you are buggered with a 12 volt.

That's not good.

I have an electric inflator and get a bit fed up every time the heat cutout stops play. Also, it doesn't appear capable of pumping a spacesaver to 60, seems to stop about 35. But pay no heed to me, I'm full of hot air.

Had the same Problem. I did replace the hose at one stage but then the mount for the top went so it popped off the bottom. Seems a weak point but then I've had Draper and others do the same. I got another one as they are the best at getting tyres inflated. I have a Bump starter with a compressor but I haven't come across one with a working gauge. Tend to carry the compressor/Starter and use the foot pump at home.

To be honest I think that's exactly what I'll do. Don't want to carry around the footpump but have that in the garage and use a small compressor in the car.

Monkeylegend, if you get a puncture, and a flat battery, and you inflate your tyre with your foot pump, you're still not going anywhere. Unless you bump start it. Which you could just as easily do with your spare tyre on. The chances of having a puncture and a flat battery where a foot pump is going to save the day, over a 12V one is pretty much non-existant!

I should have put a smiley, it was a bit tounge in cheek.

You do get more exercise with a foot pump though

Always seems more effort and slower to get a compressor out than foot pump if just topping up a few psi - that said when I had to put something like 10 in this morning (not moved over weekend and slow punture) I was thinking must either get tyre fixed or a compressor (or both)

I am not that impressed with my Michelin twin barrel quality wise

I don't like the cigarette plug in compressor types, they seem to take forever to inflate anything bigger than a wheel barrow tyre.

I'll go further and say that my Michelin foot pump is a piece of st and would never buy another. I'm on my second as the first just stopped producing air.

For something so simple that I use maybe twice a month I have been amazed at how many things have fallen off and how squeaky and badly designed the thing is.

I heard good things about a demon tweeks foot pump, may investigate that.

That Draper one and most of the others are just the same pump with some tiny cosmetic differences, all made in China and all st.

I had a West German one bought in the early 90's and it lasted 10 years no worries, now these Chinese ones last about a year or two tops.

What's the most well built non-Chinese foot pump?
