Question, Say you had about 15K and you wanted a v10 in your life! Which of these is best (or worst) Which one is less likley to bankrupt you? these are just examples.

The M5 of course has the better highly-tuned engine and will be solely performance orientated. However, I am somewhat deluded into thinking that the S6 has the lambo v10 engine (although detuned) and so I could potentially make it sound and go similar with a few tweaks. Hence I would go with my delusions (as more fun) and opt for the S6!!

BMW is the engine company. They've always been at the cutting edge, unless things have changed recently.
P.S. don't overlook Mercedes for V12s!

I'd go M5 but having driven both the Audi has a bizarre 'out of body' quality I've rarely felt to this extent. One second you're in some mundane Audi rep-mobile. A few seconds later you're sat in some mundane Audi rep-mobile and you're leaving 60 and on your way to a court date.

I reckon the possibility of finding Audi's excez-mobil in prime condition for minimal cost has to be better than finding an un-molestered M5 (E60 that is.)

I am going for the BMW with the same budget. Insane that just 15k can get you to 200MPH.

Would not even look at the Audi. The BMW is so much more capable on every level, it is not worth discussing it...

The M5 is unquestionably the better car.It is also far more likely to bankrupt you.

In that sort of budget I'd be looking at Mercedes V12 CLs, but of the two the OP suggested, I'd go Audi Avant - having driven one. Epic.

I know its bigger but this would tempt me from the bmw. It has a great interior, great noise, looks better than the current shape and reminds me of Ronin, even tho it wasnt this model

but of course Id still take the m5

I'd go M5 all day long. Everyone raves about it.

Cheapest Viper I can find is 25 grand so that's out I suspect.

For pure driving enjoyment I would recommend the M5 - although be very careful as there are many bad examples out there.

For all year round usability nothing beats the S6/S8... or have you considered the RS6 ? The V8 still sounds lovely!

I wouldn't.

I've got a V10 S8..entirely different ownership prospect to the S6. Having owned the S8 for nearly 3 (faultless) years I reckon the package of comfort, quattro and speed of the S8 makes the BMW look a pointless toy.

Funny you should say rs6 (c5) that's what I've been looking at, just looking a bit dated inside now, mind you these v10's make the earlier rs6 look simple mechanically!

Yes, I do agree they are a bit dated inside but the later models looks ok ...

Being a turbo engine it will be easier to tune compared to an N/A biggrin AWD too so you know you can put the power down.
