Audi A4 Estate advice please

Hi folks,

Can someone tell me what's the best engine/spec to go for in an Audi A4 Estate? There seem to be so many options -
also Quattro or 2wd?

I'm looking for something around £3000 and I won't be doing many miles - dog car, family holidays.

Turbo diesel manual 1.9 seems to be most popular.

I'm coming from a 3 litre BMW Estate SE auto with all the toys. A nice car but too juicy.
