That "The Money Shop" Advert

Has anyone seen the advert from them that begins with "My car always fails its MOT every year on tyres, brakes and lights". I'm sorry but WTF?? Are they basically condoning people driving blatant deathtraps? This advert made me so angry, especially as the woman carries on to say how she takes her children in it everywhere in a car she knows isnt roadworthy

All adverts annoy me but the one that makes me think SHUT UP the most at the moment is, "All women deserve beautiful skin, even those with sensitive skin" or some such claptrap.. SHUUUUT UP.

I was about to do a thread on this.

so annoying, like its fine to have a car that has bald tires, defective lights and crap brakes, as long as it passes its MOT every year.

I mean it might only be an advert, but TBH its pretty accurate - just look at cars in a car park or on the road - ones with bald tires and 2/3 brake lights are pretty common - I even play the game of 'connect 3' if you find a car with no brake lights you win... or crash.

and if it is appealing to 'normal' people who this happens to every year I despair (and fear for my safety)

Far to many people assume an MOT is the benchmark that the car is fine for another year IMO.

The QQ one warms my urine. Every one of those people have up to the minute laptops and smart phones but can't afford to put electricity on their meter card or repair their car.

You do realise that these are necessities in the modern world, everyone HAS to have these things and thanks to shops that allow you to pay £3.78 a week for the rest of your life it has to be done.

Can you imagine what your neighbours/friends/family/work colleagues (probably doesn't apply to half these people) will think if you told them you had a Windows 2000 laptop and were using a Nokia 3210

I use a laptop which somebody gave me for free. It doesn't have a big sign on it saying 'got for free' though so you'd probably assume I paid for it.

Anyone willing to take a loan with a 4 digit APR (approaching 2000% IIRC) probably doesn't have the grey matter to think further than their next benefits payment, let alone the forethought to keep a car maintained.
