Doesn't really count as I've only had it for 5 weeks.
Cost £1600
Spent £43 on some service parts, need to get some oil to go with it, so that's another £25ish.
Costs me £160ish a month in fuel and about £50 a month in insurance.
Almost bangernomics, albeit the buying price excludes me from shed status!

1x trip to dealer for diagnostics £24
2 tyres required today which will put the percentage way up. The plus point is that after 7 months of ownership the car is performing well and depreciation or monthly payments are hardly an issue!!

Caterham- bought 3.5 years ago for £6,750, approximately £2,600 spent on repairs and maintenance. However, it's now worth close to £9k so It's not doing too badly 
The BMW on the other hand- Cost me £380 and a broken Mondeo, and by the end of this year I expect I will have already spent the same again making it right!

My MX5 cost £1500. I've spent over £3k at MX5 Parts, plus a turbo, cage, hard top, several sets of wheels, seats, harnesses, coil-overs, brake lines. I've spent easily 4 times as much on it than I did buying it, and it's still only worth about what I paid for it. Although that does include all maintenance for three seasons of competition drifting and 5 years of commuting.
Elise has FLSH, and has cost about £1500 in servicing over the last 4 years. Much cheaper to run than the MX5...

12 years ago I bought 2 non running Triumph TR7s for A$1,200. A year & A$5000 later I had a nicely running, painted & reupholstered daily driver, built from the 2.
60,000Km & 11 years later, I have fitted air conditioning, had a full strip repaint, a new fuel tank & a top overhaul with new cam, big valves etc. All this cost around A$8,500, so I'm probably overcapitalised by about A$7,500 at todays Oz values. I really don't care as I have the car I wanted for about half the cost of my wife's bl00dy awful front drive box thing.
The thing was off the road so long I bought an S2000 as a daily driver, so they now share the daily duty.

Probably somewhere in the region of 40% on mods and another 15% on tyres, brakes, servicing - I don't count the consumable stuff as any car's going to need that at some point.
In no way whatsoever has a single modification made the car worth an extra penny or countered the depreciation.

I bought my Cavalier Turbo back in 2001 for £3,500 and have done nigh on 100k in it since and spent christ knows how much and when it's finished (engine work, paint etc) it'll probably still be worth about £3,500... so whilst it's cost me a s

Excluding servicing and MOT, I've spent £50 on some second hand alloy wheels and then £230 for a set of 4 Dunlops to go on them, then £50 on a decent quality Sony headunit. Apart from that, nothing!
Over about a year and a half and a little over 6k miles I have spent about two thirds of my cars value on it.
I have plans to spend the same again over the next year.
Nothings been spent on modifications, just trying to get it into as perfect, near standard condition as possible.
No doubt I will sell it when I am done and lose loads of money, that seems to be the pattern.
