So after a long run in the shed i had some silvery - rat tail looking material coming out of the exhaust. Pulled it out and got rid.

But, again had another smaller run and more coming out, currently dangling smile

What is this? PS its not a rat.

My guess is that it is the sound absorbing material that exhausts are packed with......or it could be a rabbit!

I was driving through Leicester one day and ended up at a junction behind a knackered mk1 Mondeo in all of its dented to buggery, gaffer taped glory. Upon performing an enthusiastic departure from the junction all of the baffling rodent exhaust dwellers shot out of the exhaust at great speed, in a cloud of brown smoke, leaving the car to sound like the exhaust had fallen off as it sped away, with the driver appearing largely unconcerned. Made me smile, anyway.

It is if it's this rabbit.

This problem can be avoided in future by simply buying an exhaust that does not have any baffling. Top tip!

Same thing happened to my Escort GTI exhaust back in the day. It was running like a dog for a week or two, when all of a sudden driving at 50 in 4th gear it took off like a rocket. Look behind me and there was the biggest ploom of black smoke. I thought I'd either broken it or fixed it, turned out that it was the fibreglass wool blocking the exhaust and I just blew most of it out in one go.

Has it been de-catted?

Lack of a cat can lead to rat and mice problems.
