They were picture questions on University Challenge this week, the team gave the answers above to each one. Most children could identify them, but not the chinless wonders from either Sydney Sussex or Magdalen, forget which one.

To be fair, everything on that show is fairly obvious if you're a geek in the subject in question, so it's hardly surprising that we find car questions laughable. I'm sure the vast majority of the population wouldn't know that that was a Jaguar.
That's what my wife said, but the Bentley. Surely? The Sidney-Sussex captain is reading mechanical engineering.

well i guess it is easy for PH'ers to laugh at anybody who could possibly get a car wrong... however..
"ferrari surely" is pretty stupid.

Quite why a persons inability to recognize examples of something in which they clearly have no interest in some way brings into question their intelligence is beyond me.
I would be willing to bet that if you asked 100 people in the street exactly the same question as above you'd be lucky if 5 of them got it right, especially if your target group was <25 and in higher education.
But if for some reason this makes you feel superior, enjoy.

The fact that you think this in some way qualifies him to recognize classic sportscars says more about your knowledge than his TBH.All 'easy' for me and most of us on here I should think.
Would it have been easier or harder if the selection was a C2, Focus and BMW models from the last couple of years?
The question master must have based their selection on some factors though? The four cars are pretty special models in their own right. All four manufacturers & three of the cars have won at Le-Mans.
It's meant to be a challenging quiz and obviously proved to be in this instance.

Looks like a Jaguar D-type to me but that's bloody obvious so presumably it's not.

now I get it.
They were very thick though.
