1 day high performance insurance

Hi I want to lend my TVR to my mate for his wedding day this weekend. I am finding it hard to find a company that will provide temp cover for a day and policy of his own rather than add him to mine. Any ideas guys?

There's loads of "day insurance" companies around, but you might find that most of them refuse to cover a high group car like that. Only way to be sure would be to contact them all.

Why don't you want to add him to your policy for a day?

As others mentioned, easiest way is to insure on your insurance. I insured a mate on my T25 camper van. Cost £35 for the year, so not too bad....

The only soloution I could find in your situation was to add a friend to mine for 3 days.

Depending on your friends driving record they may even be no charge; there wasn't for me.

Cheers It looks like i will have to add him to mine if you can not have 2 policy's running on the one car. Not Ideal but lucky he is a panel Beater if the worst should happen.

I just added him 51 quid for 7 days not too bad. Worth it for his big day now to go clean and polish it

You can have multiple policies on one car, providing you only claim from one. It's an urban myth that you can't but is well perpetuated,even on PH.

Funny, as my insurance companies & previous ones were the ones that told me I could not have multiple policies on my cars, it's not anything I've read on PH...?

Perhaps it is insurance company specific.

I'm not sure how well panel beating works on GRP. I think it might make any damage worse...

The issue with multiple policies is, I always assumed, because most policies say you can't claim from them if there is another policy you could claim from instead. It's not illegal, just that both insurers may start arguing about who pays out.

I was told today by one of the companys I phoned that you are not allowed two policy's on one car, that was AF. The other issue I had was finding a temp company to cover the TVR due the insurance group (I think) not many would cover it on the online quotes I was running.

I was told it was actually illegal by a bike insurance company. Utter bks of course, and they became strangely coy about the piece of legislation that outlawed this practice when I asked
