I guess this is the automotive equivalent of forever associating a particular person's name with someone unpleasant. For example, I am always reminded of the school bully whenever I meet someone called Richard, even if they're very nice.

Although it's merely a car, for me the Ford Fiesta Metal has also succumbed to this way of thinking. There's one local to me that is seemingly always driven in the most idiotic way you could ever imagine. Ford are only building 1000 of them (soon to be 999 left, I would have thought!), but earlier today I saw another example and fully expected it to also be doing something stupid. It wasn't, in much the same way that the last person I met called Richard didn't throw me in a bush. hehe This isn't the same as sweeping generalisations (BMWs not indicating, Audis all driven by cocks, etc.), but something else that's hard to explain!

News of the Fiesta facelift on the homepage today has pleased me - his nearly new car is already outdated. biggrin

Experiencing a bad example of a particular car counts too - I had the misfortune of renting an easyCar Mercedes A-Class a few years back that was totally knackered in every way. Rightly or wrongly, I can never look at an A-Class in the same way again, even though the new model is completely different and significantly less rubbish. I would have hoped the new A45 AMG comes with brakes that aren't borderline dangerous, for instance! laugh

Funnily enough I thought of a similar topic today:

I always see a K12 Micra bieng driven badly and then I saw one that I see more often now and they display really good road manners - they also do not have any toys or bears on a parcel shelf. I then see my ex manager driving around in his K12 and realise that the previous driver is a rare breed in that model of car.. hehe

Talking of names - I will always associate Oliver as a freckle riddled trouble maker that caused chaos at school. Although, a friend is called Oliver and has yet to cause any trouble.

Is that what you wanted?!

Rovers in Suffolk.

All except one belong to the monospeed brigade. And the exception drives like a suicidal maniac on my commute road.

Chevrolet Matiz - did a stint selling them and the customer base was just something else! Then we had the misfortune to hire one in the south of France which made me hate them even more. All those lovely mountain and coastal roads just dying to be hooned on, and they gave me a roller skate with a strimmer engine.

Vectras - Dad had one as a hire car when his BMW broke. This particular one was maroon, with a beige interior, the wheezy diesel engine, and it stank of smoke. I hate all Vectras. I could never buy a Vectra.

That's just common sense though.

All people from Leeds are thick - sorry about that but bloke called Jimmy Peace who I ended up sharing a room with for a year or so while in the Army has tainted them all so.

Peugeot 206. Drove one once - horrible.

It is the one model of car I see most often abused, neglected, and badly driven - and even crashed. The two accidents I've seen where a car has ended up on its side or on its roof, both were 206s.

I recently realised that, to most Audi drivers, whichever side of the road they are curently on is THEIR side. Met a few of them recently on what I had thought was MY side, but their flashing lights and, in the case of the guy with the S6 Estate, honking horn and big fist, told me I was wrong about that and in future I should pull off the road to allow Audis to progress as if driven by the royal family.
