was at a garage today looking at a nice audi lovely test drive
anyway we were talking about depreciation as my focus has greatly!
some guy who was looking at a passat whilst i was there was driving a 09 plate mazda rx8 and the dealer i spoke to said he paid £20k for it a couple month old and Perry's where he bought it from offered £3.5k part exchange!!!
is it really that bad of a car??

the residuals on rx8s are pretty poor it doesnt help that they are very thirsty & in the highest ved band

You understand that trade price is different from retail, right..? Just because they got it for that doesn't mean they were planning to sell it for that.

If it's true, then probably the garage didn't want it as they thought it would be very hard to sell unless it stood them at a figure at which they could give it away.

I do yes, but bidding 10k under market value is taking he piss somewhat. Surely a main dealer would just get it underwritten somewhere to get closer, rather than just walk a customer out of the door, whilst telling them not to let the door smack them on the arse on the way out?

WBAC is £7,400 at 35k... I don't see it being a £10k car, but nor do I see it as low as £3,500, surprisingly, given how cheap one that's a couple of years older is.

I picked 'about 35k miles.' Not actually sure what I did. Maybe it was the made up postcode I used, or maybe you chose a better colour.

Of course when you got there, the bloke in the Portakabin would probably try and swap it for a half eaten packet of crisps.
