Help me choose a car

This was not my plan, but I need a new (to me) car for the daily grind. I binned my faithful 330d into someone else yesterday and so need a replacement. BMW was the old shape, and I'm not sure about the newer ones...I have a 320d saloon in white as a hire car. Very new and very shiny, but oh dear other than that! I have looked at the usual suspects but thought I'd throw the problem out to Pistonheads for suggestions.

It must be newish (previous was 2004 with 140k miles), look nice, be good for 120 miles/day (so probably oil rather than petrol, again) for it and me. I want to get something for the weekend, which WAS my plan, so that has been pushed back a few months while I sort this out. Not sure what my insurance will pay out on the BMW but I expect to have £3k or so as deposit and pay £500/month. Dunno what this is as a budget but it should be OK hopefully. I'm only being slow as BMW was paid for.

So....any ideas? I will wander round BMW, merc, Audi today, but I'm struggling other than that.

For that sort of mileage you are going to want something comfortable...

Skoda superb - 2.0/3.0 tdi
Volvo - s60/v60 d5

Thinking out of the box...if not its the standard 330d/a4 3.0 tdi/c350 cdi

Just test drove a 335d m sport. Mmmmm. Off to try an A5 now. Starting to get into this!!,
