Just sold my S4 and trawling the classifieds.
Criteria are - must be quick, ideally 5 seats, possibly a rag top...
Already had an M5, M3, S4, Evo, Scooby - so fancy something different.
Budget is £10k max, prefer to pay less!
Go laugh

Must admit I have been so impressed with Audi's quattro grip and having had an M3 evo and an E39 M5, would probably yearn for those grip levels back - but its an option.

Alfa Romeo 159 3.2 JTS Q4? I spy a very nice one on ebay for a snip under 9 grand!

Edit: I think Q4 IS actually 4 wheel drive. I was being a spanner.

I'm in the other boat - I have a Legacy Spec B and the grip levels are ridiculous and it's just not entertaining - so I'm going the M3 route in the next few weeks for some rear based slideyness.

So I have trawled the clasifieds, phoned a few cars mainly M3s and why the feck is it nearly every seller sounds mega dodgy?

After avoiding the question several times, most either don't have the V5, have a V5 that is registered elsehwere (oh, but they're not a trader, honest...) or they are pure and simple a trader given away by the response to me saying, 'I'm calling about the car for sale' being, 'What car bruv, innit?'

PH classifieds seems to be full of dodgy feckers...

How about a Jaguar X350 XJR? The version made from 2003 to 2010-ish, with all-aluminium construction and the 4.2 litre supercharged V8.

Different from the cars you have already had - slightly bigger, more luxurious, less hardcore, but still blisteringly fast (400bhp, 0-60 in about 5s I believe).

10K will get you a good one - or spend 9K and have 1K bork money in reserve (though you shouldn't need it).

The sellers tend to speak good English and wear their baseball caps the right way round, in my experience.

A Chrysler 300c would fit your criteria I reckon.

Convertible Saab Aero V6? You'd also have a few quid left over for ecu upgrade & brakes/suspension.

Hmm Saab, didn't think of that - are they quick???
Getting sick of speaking to people about M3s, why are they all dodgy chav dheads who don't have the V5 and can't string a sentence together? [rhetorical question, I am sure there are several explanations that can be offered by PHers...]

What are your thoughts on the S4 OP? How does it compare to the rest of your past stable?

My S4 was awesome - not standard, so bare that in mind, but it was close to perfect - build quality great, grip immense, handling fantastic (uprated to Eibach RS4 ARBs), power delivery smooth and huge - running well over 350 BHP.
And it had the top spec - specs vary so search for a good one with a top spec and importantly good history with oil regularly.
The S4 is a detuned RS4 (or and RS4 is a tuned B6 S4), and the base car is the same - the S4 is less common, more understated and can easily be brought close to RS4 performance.
Get one - I'd get another but fancy a change....

a Saab or Alfa will feel pedestrian after an M3/M5/S4.

what about six grand of Boxster and four grand of BMW 530i?

That S6 is awesome. Not so sure a TT will cut it after owning M3's, M5's Evos, Subarus and an S4 mind...
