Auto-headlight sensor location?

I was wondering if anyone can help..

I have a MINI Cooper S R56 (56 plate onwards, turbo model) and my automatic headlights have recently decided that it is always dark and therefore are always on even when it is lovely and sunny like today. Now there may be a sensor issue somewhere but equally I haven't washed my car in nearly 12 months and it is filthy so it could well be that the sensor is that dirty that it just thinks its dark all the time.

Would anyone happen to know where said sensor is located? I tried a google search and found the R53 location is behind the rear view mirror shared with the autodimming mirror sensor, is it the same place on an R56?

Most cars are on the windscreen, infront of the rear view mirror as such. Might be a visible sensor, or a little black spot.

Can change car to car though.
