Rover 75 Ebay & £500 - What can go wrong?

Picking it up tomorrow - driving it and hoping for the best. What on earth can go wrong!

He mentions at the bottom it keeps cutting out. If the tank had simply been empty he would've known as a result of how much fuel he put it, so what could the problem be?

It's normally either the fuel pumps giving up (he says tested), or moisture in the Plenum chamber affecting the ECU. Clearing the drain hole, and disconnecting the battery resets things. Can also screw up the petrol gauge. Hopefully.

Cruise is likely to be a sensor at the top of the clutch pedal, which is particularly prone to being knocked after a clutch change from my research...

Something to do with motorway driving and the design of the fuel tanks kills fuel pumps and makes the gauge play up on these.

I know people who buy their cars on ebay for no more than 500 beer tokens a time.
They run them till the ticket runs out and repeat the process.

The trick is to go for the colours/specs people dont see as necc being desirable and you can get some great cars for peanuts.

One mate is currently driving a 99 Mazda 323f 1.8, 90 odd thousand miles, nothing at all wrong it, drives perfectly but it's green.
It cost him 450 quid while similar blue, silver etc examples were going for 7-800.

If this was a 51 plate BM 320 for £500 people would be pulling their cocks off at it for £500 but no its just a Rover 75 with lots of 3 series BM bits on it like the engine, suspension, most of the electrics. How small minded and thick some of you really are, no wonder the country is FU**ED. I hope it gives the OP a nice and trouble free ride for his £500.

Looks like a good buy! I've got an MG ZT-T as a daily driver and can't fault it. There are some weak points on the cars but they are well known and most are easy(ish) DIY jobs

It's worth checking out some of the Rover/MG forums, they have lots of info and some good how-to's. The fuel pumps are a known weak spot, so an intermittent pump could be the cause of the cutting out.
