Audi r8 or Nissan gtr?

Hello all, my 40th soon and possibly looking to change my cars for one, so thinking of an Audi r8 pr Nissan gtr? Would be used on occasional track days and weekend fun, with budget about £45k.

So, what do people think?

Depends what you want out of the car really. GT-R for example has option of 4 seats if you have young kids or friends who are under 5ft 2". GT-R also has surprising big boot and is very tuneable.

I was in the same situation took both cars out and went for the GT-R. The V8 Audi R8 didn't really appeal to me I'd go as far as saying I preferred my B7 Audi RS4 the V10 R8 however is in my personal opinion a lot better but then it's outside of your budget.

Best bet is to take both out and see which appeals more depending on your criteria.

More than likely so. But it's still the one I'd buy.

I have only driven a GTR though and not an R8, I just dislike VAG cars so I am also heavily biased. Actually my opinion here counts for little.

I'd have to go for a GTR. The sheep pace and muscle car looks would do it for me.

R8.

GTR uses brute force and computers. I can't help but feel the R8 is the finesse option. It also is a lot less 'new money' than a GTR, and it is MUCH prettier to look at.

Driven both on track days, never been fortunate to drive one on the road.

The R8 will get a lot more attention, but in my experience the GTR is easier to drive quickly and is more practical.

Depends what you prioritise higher OP?

Both cars are awesome in their own way. Test drive both and decide for yourself. If going for the R8 stick with the v10 however.

With each new model year for the GTR bringing on new exciting changes I would always feel a bit like I was missing out with an earlier model (not that I'm likely to ever be in a position to buy one!) Software upgrades, parts upgrades, better cabin trim etc. are just a number of changes made to the MY11 car, but these are surely still in excess of your budget..?

With the R8 I think you have a bona-fide supercar. The GTR has all the pace and the pub-talk figures, but it's still just a fast brick of a car. The R8 is slender and looks the part and I dare say would be more entertaining / rewarding to drive - you are never going to find the limit of the GTR's capabilities on a road I don't think.

R8, manual open-gate gearbox. Job jobbed.

I always think 'New Money' when I see an R8. Whereas a GTR to me says 'Petrolhead'. Obviously it depends on your outlook as to which image you'd like to portray, but neither says 'refined gentleman' to me.

Surely it has to come down to whether you need 4 seats, if you need a bit of practicality and back seats it has to be the GTR otherwise get the R8
