Uh oh, a what car

Been offered a good price on my 370Z, I still realy like the car, but also I have had it for 2 1/2 years so the itchy feet situation is there.

All cars will cost about the same in finance, insurance and road tax, so money is not a factor here .....

Help me with this dilemma people of PH, what would you do and why?

Eta BMW and Porker are late 07 cars, Nissan is an Early 10 car

Are you sure the 2007 Cayman is a PDK? I don't think it is.

I would prefer the Porsche but only if I could have the Gen 2 model because they don't have the IMS issue.

However I don't think I'd have the M3 simply because of the badge/image that comes along with owning one. Also I find the pedals are offset to the right so its a bit uncomfortable for me.

I'd love to recommend the Porsche but its engine is the letdown with the expensive issues. There are preventative messures to combate these issues so would want to investigate this first.

Why no Z4M on the list? Would probably be my choice.

I'd go for the Porsche unless the internet scares me with engine failures in which case it'd be the M3.

I just can't make myself like the 370Z. Nissans are something I buy when they are twenty years old and worth almost nothing. I do the secondhand-law-of-diminishing-returns thing on them and always end up with a £3k R32 Skyline GTS-t instead (and feel bad for wasting £2k and not settling for a 200SX). Nothing wrong with the 370Z, I'm the one with the problem.

Drove my BIL's Cayman S last night around the Harpenden lanes.

All I will say is buy the Porsche.

M3 looks like every other BMW on the road so in terms of individuality, it fails my own test - though of course a test drive might convince me otherwise, I just wouldn't go out of my way to get one.

The 370Z will probably lose lots of money very quickly and will be a demon to sell one day and it's not really special enough or different enough to stand out.

So I would go for the Porsche and accept straight away that part of that is the good reviews and that it is "a porsche" even though I'm not at all keen on the styling. In fact, I'd probably go Boxster so I had the drop top.

Actually this is one of my quandaries, out here the 370z is a very rare car on the road, I think 20 or less registered, where as 3 coupe's and caymans are common as muck!

So I would vote Cayman if it's a purchase now, M3 if you can wait a while.

I can appreciate the convertible bit but the Z4M was made at the same time as the M3/Cayman you're looking at and there are a few out there... not as many as Caymans but they're not *that* rare.

Cayman S all day long.

Have a Gen.1 08 car myself and it's fab. Make sure you buy a warranty from Porsche so IMS and other issues don't scare you and then sit back and enjoy. A superb car that will flatter your ability enormously. I love mine.
