Cheapest way to 1000bhp

Not that I'm really looking at this (yet), but I've always had a hankering to have a 1000bhp car in the garage (as you do).

So far I'm thinking Skyline, Supra or turbo'd Viper.... But what else is there that would be easy-ish to find on the open market, with a genuine 4 figure stable under the bonnet?

I think some insane Skyline or Supra would be the cheapest way, buy it 2nd hand once the previous owner has sorted the headaches and paid the big bucks.

[edit] Actually, an old drag car like this would probably be the cheapest purchase cost.

You want a RWD Volvo Estate with no engine, 8 20 year old 1000cc bikes, some cable ties and an angle grinder.

Stick all the chain drives on the propshaft, knock up a monsterous gear linkage, job done.

An engine in an Audi RS4 or RS6 should be able to get close. Probably more expensive than the Japanese cars you've listed though.

cheapest way is going to be a small block chevy bolted into the cheapest small GM RWD car you can find.

you dont need the full 1500bhp only 1000bhp

so maybe its just increasing boost till just before the charged air gets to warm .

even if you need cams ,exhaust ,k&n filters and alot of boost its not going to be the 30+ k you would need

Seeing as you have 8000cc to play with and a hugely under-stressed engine, I'd go down the Viper route. Extracting 1000bhp from a smaller Japanese unit already tuned to oblivion is asking for trouble

Not many engines will reach 1000bhp on standard internals.

I would say the "cheapest way" would be a Supra or Soarer with the 2jz and 1jz engines + mods (big turbo + big fueling system etc) but leaving the internals of the engine standard.

Something with an LS1 in it has to be te cheapest and easiest way to do it, from what I have read you can get 700 bhp+ with nothing more than bolt ons, and the stock internals will take it.
