I have had my z4 nearly 2 years, the tyres re050 bridgestones, we're at 6mm when I got it, I have just replaced them with the new type toyo t1sport.
I knew the bridgestones were getting low about 3mm and it took 3 months normal driving to get them to 1.6 mm.
The new tyres were fitted on the 24 th of August, it's now the 10th of September, I do 50 miles a week for work commute plus the usual shop/gym run, I would say I have done 250 miles since fitting and they are at 6mm now.
The old tyres were worn even across the tyre, no feathering, no damage.

At this rate they will be bald in 1000 miles, I have had cars before where the tracking has been out, worn bushes but never experienced wear like this before.

What could be the issue? Can tyres be faulty?

Performance tyres sometimes have less tread on them, did you measure the depth when they were new?

Make sure you are checking in the right place too, not on a wear indicator.

I thought you were talking about the RE050's being faulty for a minute.

I had a serious problem with these from Costco. I bought 4 for my Accord and the fronts were shot by 7k miles (rears by 8k). Shocking. They wouldn't do anything about them, despite acknowledging that the wear was disproportionate for the car (2.2 diesel).

Sorry can't help with the Toyos but one thing the guy said was that some cars eat certain tyres (as opposed to them being faulty). I find that hard to believe as I've never seen tyres wear that fast!

Lol, normal driving, no burnouts ect.
I have had tyres last a year and that included 2 nurburgring trips, this wear is not through abuse just normal 30mph commute all of 10 miles a day.

Silly question have you had a proper garage look at your tracking?

It's not a silly question and the thought did cross my mind, but it took 3 months to wear the old ones down from 3 mm to 1.6mm, these have lost 2mm in 250 miles, in just over 2 weeks.
I would have thought if the tracking was out it would have worn the old tyres down fast too which is not the case.
I can't see tracking going off overnight.

If you're turning in on a trailing throttle then you'll be hammering the inside edges of your tread.

What's the tread wear number on the Toyos compared to the bridgestones?

We were getting only 8k miles on our Mondeo out of falken 452, tried some falken 912 and they lasted 12k. Tread wear was a far higher number on the 912 so harder compound basically.

Tread wear was 140 on the bridgestones and 240 on the toyo's

If you have not had your tracking done I would recommend the Hunter 4 wheel alignment system:

Are the new tyres wearing evenly just as the old ones?If you only do 50 miles a week then even over three months that is only 600 miles and you took 1.4mm out of the bridgestones in that time/mileage.On that basis the bridgestones wouldnt last you long either.

No car should be getting through tyres that quick unless you are screwing the arse off it or there is something wrong with the suspension/geo.

The soft sticky dunlops on my GTR are still going strong after 15k miles FFS!

I must admit the amount of pot holes about they messed up my tracking but now I have memorised my journey where the dam holes are! If the tyres have a manufacturing problem tyre wear would be the only problem I recon.

Took this the day fitted, 8mm

Today with 6 mm

There's no feathering on the edges, no scrubbing, just smooth even rubber.

Could it be a bad batch or set of tyres? Wrong compound resulting in too soft tyres? No idea, but seems very strange.

Definitely get your tracking checked, I can't see any other reason they would wear that quickly aside from massive amounts of scrubbing from incorrect toe.

Could be a bad batch of rubber I suppose.
I am going to the Scottish highlands tomorrow, it's 430 miles to where I am going, I'll take another measurement and photo tomorrow, then on Thursday I'll be doing the return trip, I think it will be near a 900 mile road trip with running around when there.
So that's the ultimate test, if 900 miles on the motorway and I'm on the wear bands or canvas showing and its worn even and smooth like in the picture then there must be a tyre problem.
I'll keep you posted.
I have been driving 18 years and I have never had to worry if my tyres will wear out before I reach my destination, I am genuinely worried that I may not make it there and back without having to stop for tyres.

I wish the excuse for tyres I currently have on the car would wear and die.

I just can't justify binning them. Practically still brand new even with 5k of me driving like a tool.

Are these covered by the Toyo wear guarantee?
