Any Recommendations on Intensive Driver Training Courses?

My 24 year old stepson has a very well paid job, about six weeks accumulated holiday . . . . and a Provisional Licence only.
I've suggested an intensive learn-to-drive (car) course leading up to a test. Any experience or recommendations?
He actually wants to do a bike course but his mother is, ahem, 'unenthusiastic'.

Intensive courses are very good if the learner can live and breathe driving for X amount of days without other distractions
Getting a test booked on the last day can ba a problem in some areas if left too late
Even if the test is failed then the intensive course will leave great underpinning knowledge and the learner will probably just require a little refresher before the second test
In most cases the evenings are not used for intensive so if the learner also has access to a family car then that makes for good practise but it is recommended that whoever is the supervising driver gets to speak to the ADI doing the intensive course first so they are singing from the same page

If its anything like the HGV tests the training schools have tests booked up weeks/months in advance that they can then book the intensive lessons around. So getting a test may not be a problem, a re-test may be a different issue.

Does the car system for booking tests work on the same system as booking LGV tests?
