What to Look for on a 911 (996)?

Hello mate - looking at 98/99/2000 models.
Test drove a 52 plate facelift today to get a feel for them - as expected not as quick as my S4, M5, and on a par with the E46 M3 I would say, but they look gorgeous IMO. Seemed grippy but tracking was way off so not a great example.
Have my eye on a few, checked out a couple of ones that seem legit that I could buy at weekend.
Any advice much appreciated particularly on what options, if any, are a must.
