You would have to renew so much to drive it and even then I wonder if registering for the road would even be possible today?

Who knows what the reserve is but at £10k I'd say its worth it,I love these but my true love is Capris and if I had the spare money and opportunity to buy the last ever un-registered 2.8i even if just to keep as an ornament I certainly would do!

Even allowing for re-commissioning, that's pretty good for a "new" car and a bargain for a Scimitar enthusiast IMO.

I guess the question is what would it be worth once it was registered and had done a few miles? If I wanted the closest thing to a new scimitar possible that would be a factor. To buy a car and not use it seems pointless to me so this sort of car is always a strange one. However, what else could you buy new for £10k + other costs? Makes it good value in many ways.

Even if it cost £5000 to sort out it would still be a very cheap brand new car with an engine and charisma you just can't buy off the shelf anymore.

I know what you are saying, but with a new £13k car (covering costs to get this one running properly) the depreciation of say 20k miles over 3 years is reasonably known. However, buying this and doing 20k mile in 3 years just makes it a relatively low mileage Scimitar rather than what it is at the moment. I haven't looked at Scimitar prices so have no real idea so just musing I guess.
