Need a bit of input from all you fantabulous car nuts.
My mate suddenly has found he needs a car, rather than his Fiat Ducato van that he's been using for work over the last year. We have spent the last couple of days touring round and have so far seen: a sheddy Kia Carens with lots of top end noise, a 150,000 mile Zafira up at £1995 (I mean, really?!), and a nice Peugeot 406 but he doesn't really want a saloon.
Tomorrow we are going to look at three cars tomorrow: A 2001 Toyota Avensis Estate, 2004 Renault Scenic & a 2003 Peugeot 406 Estate. All have around 80,000 miles on. I know they're all a bit different but price is the deciding factor and that's what's available locally. His budget is pretty much what he can get for his van plus a couple of hundred on top if necessary.
My favourite is the Toyota. It looks a very honest car and we've agreed a provisional 'deal' of the van + £400 my mate's way for it which kinda kills two birds with one stone. It's also specced up to the hilt.
His favourite is the Scenic but we've yet to see if the seller will take the Van in part ex (he is a trader with a small forecourt). It's also cheap for the year at £995 (marked down from £1995... but ALL his cars on the forecourt are at that price including an 06 Citroen C5 :/). The Scenic also has isofix which is a bonus for him.
The Peugeot looks straight too, but is a sort of 'guarantee' car if the other two turn out to be complete dogs.
The Avensis is on for £795, Scenic is £995, and the Peugeot is on for £800.
Is there anything specific we should be looking at on these cars? Things to be aware of?
