Body shop advice needed

Hi, her indoors has clipped a parked car, done the right thing and fessed up, I have offered to pay for the repair what do you think I should be saving up ! Its a Corsa .

A decent smart repair should be around £150 tops for that I would say.

Cheers for that, the other side of the bumper is also damaged not by us , ha ha. Thinking of offering to have the whole thing sprayed as a sorry, would that cost much more ?

Depends where he goes.

Personally I wouldn't accept a Smart repair as IME they shrink, dull, crack within a year.

At a decent back street place I'd expect to pay £100-150 for the entire bumper to be resprayed.

At a High Profile place could easily be £500

It's a bit of a shed, so a high profile place is not on the cards but I would pay £100/150 for a complete bumper re spray which would be a Decent thing to do because they are put out by our mistake !

A decent body shop place on the outskirts of Manchester gave me a quote of £120 to respray my front bumper if they left it on and masked it or £200 if they were to take it off and do it properly. This is on an Audi S6.

A SMART repair done properly won't shrink, dull or crack ... it's just a case of finding the right repairer - one that puts in the prep work and uses decent products.
I'd expect a worse job from a backstreet place who can do a whole bumper for £100 - 150. There can't be much time going into prep work or cost into materials on such a cheap job.

Yes I noticed that, all four are just about destroyed, however we ran into it so it has become a cherished car overnight. The glee in the owners eye was palpable. I suspect my cash will go into the tank. cestlavie .

I've been doing SMART for 6 years now (and know of some been in the trade for 15) ... the amount of call backs I've had I can count on one hand, I've done jobs for a pro detailing company and when I take my dog for its twice daily walk I go past at least three jobs of mine that are years old and there isn't any problem with them. As I say get the right repairer, doing the job correctly with the correct materials and the job's a good-un .... and I'm not unique.
Still can't work out how anybody with a business premises charging £100 per panel can be making a profit if they're putting in the prep work, using decent materials, paying business rates, vat, etc, etc .... but that sort of discussion should be on different thread.

I had almost identical damage inflicted on my A4 Avant. The car was away for a week, a new bumper was supplied, painted and fitted and I had a Ford Galaxy from Enterprise (the nearest they had to an estate car). All at no cost to me apart from fuel, my excess was waived too as it was a total no-fault accident - my car was parked at the time. Cost of the Galaxy hire was £400+, no idea about the new bumper, paint, fitting.
I'd been waiting a couple of years for it to happen as I'd accidentally damaged the top of the bumper when loading/unloading but didn't want to pay for a repair myself. Rest of the car (12 years old, 151,000 miles) still looks ste though...
