Most staggering ticket price on a car you have seen for sale
Discussion
I have read the thread about Golf's specced to £50k etc, with this one though Id like you to link to, or discuss physical car you have seen for sale with a ridiculous/audacious price tag. The two that spring to mind for me:
- At the Nissan dealer recently I seen a Nissan Pathfinder, I thought "Ohh that would be nice as a site vehicle", wonders over and think to myself its well specced and looks pretty rugged. Get round to the front and theres the full spec sheet with the price standing at £38,000!!
- Now in the Mitsibushi (or Great Wall actually as I wanted to see them) dealership I see a Shogun, didnt get near it, didnt see the spec but the price in the window stood at almost £44k

Why is the shogun a shock? Arent they a disco rival (or possibly a FFRR rival)? - At the Nissan dealer recently I seen a Nissan Pathfinder, I thought "Ohh that would be nice as a site vehicle", wonders over and think to myself its well specced and looks pretty rugged. You know the Merc G class? It's their Gelande wagon - basically like a LR defender.
I think all the prices are staggering. Current UK prices:
G Class G350 BlueTec (3l V6 turbodiesel)
£83K
G Class AMG63 (5.5l twin turbo V8)
£123K
G Class AMG65 (6l twin turbo V12)
£250K
What are Merc saying with these prices? "our V12 costs you £167K" ?

I actually couldnt believe the price I was seeing, £30k sounds about right, £35k is pushing it, £44k is shockingly bad VFM! You can pick up 3 year old versions with 17k for £17k

Seriously? The design (bar the lights) is about 10 year old and the Interior is similar to that you get in a £20k L200:

They start at 30K IIRC and go up to 42K before extras.

If they hold 50% after 3 years (which is more then most cars do) then 17K at 3 years old would be 34K list. What spec are these 3 year old ones you have seen. If they are holding 50% value then thats pretty good IMO.
I'm not arguing that they aren't an old design etc, and agree if I had £44 K to spend it wouldn't be on a shogun, but compared to other cars in its class its not that bad. Discos start at £39K - £53K before extras.
Plus that £44K will be before discounts.
A couple stick in my mind.
At a BMW garage a few years back whilst getting my car serviced I had a mooch round the showroom. A BMW X5 4.8 with lots of toys - £84k!
At a Vauxhall dealer in Manchester - a Corsa for £23k! Probably top of the range etc, but I just couldn't imagine paying £23k for a Corsa!
