Heroic commuters in Weekend Cars

Did a couple of site visits this morning (I think it might actually be a 'Friday thing') and spotted two drivers in what I would consider weekend cars, suited and booted!

Who are these hero's and are you one of them?

First was a MK2 RS2000 in bright yellow, fitted out with a cage. This was somewhere down the A1, chap was wearing a shirt and tie, ready for work!

The second was even more a weekend car, a chap in a Westfield (bright orange) complete with tie tucked into his shirt! Spot on.

Has anyone else spotted some unusual cars on their Friday commute?

(I don't mean people who ocassionally use the MX5 - that's too civilised!)

I drove to work today in my MGB GT. Does that count?

I try to use it at least once a week, more during the summer.

One customer site I visit always seems to have a Caterham in the car park!

And a colleague has used his 1960's Lotus Europa to drive to the office today.

Wasn't in Swindon per chance was it?

Friend of mine in Swindon commutes to the office in his Orange Westfield when the weather is good, and it is far from a civilised spec example to be doing so in - it was originally built as a hill climb car and hence has no 'screen, no heater, no weather gear, a paddle clutch, semi-slicks, very loud induction and exhaust, and something in the order of 230-240hp...

Mine has no screen, no heater, semi slicks and is loud too, sadly it only has 155bhp, I went to work once in April when it was only 4 degrees without a crash helmet. Damn that was cold...

I see a bloke in, what I think is an MG type M, all year round.

TVR Chimaera seems to be a weapon of choice around these parts, regularly see 2 or 3 most mornings on the daily commute, one chap in a dark green S-plate example seems to use it every day for the last 2-3 years, even in the winter, Good man.

The Westy was somewhere on my way back from site, I really have gone that blank that I can't remember where I was at the time (it is Friday!)

But the site was in NW11 so somewhere from there back to Hoddesdon...

I used to see a bloke in a Lotus Elan +2S every morning when I lived in Essex.

I use the 944 every day, with the roof down and then I drive the Galaxy all weekend.

I regularly see a chap in a Caterfield style kit car, no roof, full cage, goggles and a bobble hat, seems to be his daily.

Yes for sure.

I regularly use my TVR S2 to get to work, Top Down of course, even these last few mornings when it was blinkin cold and misty, first thing, brain and finger tip freeze, after the blast along the lanes. Worth it cos when I get to work I am AWAKE..
Plus the sunny drive home tonight will be much more civilised.
Plus I am sure my neighbours love the early morning exhaust roar alarm.
