Whats with all the smoky turbos?
Discussion
I've noticed a lot of new turbo petrol cars seem to put out a fair amount of smoke/soot under acceleration. I was always taught this was the sign of a knackered turbo, or a Diesel, but the two I saw this week seem a bit odd. First was a late-model 911 Turbo - lots of puff from both pipes as he booted it away. Second was a Golf R - same thing. By 'a lot' I'd describe as in the same category as a TD from a few years ago.
Usual, or sign of something amiss, or, ahem, altered?
