Personlised reg question...
Discussion
Sorry if this has come up before.
I am buying a used car from a work colleague. I was hoping to complete the sale this Sunday, her ex-husband has been in touch with her and states that he wants to retain the personal number plate.
Can the car be allocated a new reg or be put back on its original plate at a main DVLA office or is there some forms that have to be completed and sent to DVLA.
It will be annoying if this slows the sale down but know that it needs to be done properly.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thank you

I have just done this, albeit on a bike.
The private plate on my bike went to the new owner and I got the old plate it used to have.
Cost £80 and a couple of forms, depending if you have the V5, from the DVLA website.
You will need your tax disc serial number (from both cars) and each will have to sign the docs.
Is she fit.
