Anyone know how much time you would be likely to get for Murder?

decided my car needed a new wobbly racing stripe on the drivers side, so obliged by drawing it on with his key, and if I catch the little fker....
Why do people feel the need? Its an R reg 318i for fks sake, its not like I'm flaunting massive wealth in a run down area.

You also have my sympathies. These littles think it's a great laugh, and although I wouldn't kill them, a cup of battery acid down the pants would be my choice of punishment.

There's a TV program called Lock Up about a custody suite at Priory Road Police Station in Hull. One man allegedly found someone breaking into his transit with a crow bar after two other thefts the nights before, and the thief admitted to trying to break in, he hit the thief around the head, body (and also the hand/arm as he raised it to protect himself) with a baseball bat saying he feared being attacked with the crow bar.
The CPS decided to charge him for GBH which the voiceover said can carry a life sentence and they got scene of crime investigators to go out and photograph everything with those little arrow markers, DNA testing on blood splatters, blood in cracks in the pavement even a cigarette butt, take the van in to be dried to get prints, but the CPS dropped the case after the thief refused to give evidence against the man.
Could go either way really but not worth attacking someone for keying a car for the legal risks invovled.

Can someone explain to me how we have actually got into a situation where a "proven criminal" has rights? (often seeming to be above those of his victim??)
yes, the law needs to be balanced (for example, you don't want someone attacking say the postman with a baseball bat as he tried to put a letter on your hall floor) but surely, where prior criminal intent is proven then the criminal should loose any claim to their rights? (effectively, forfeiting their claim to protection from the law by the act of carrying out a criminal act???)
So, someone actively breaks into a house (causing criminal damage to do so), to steal possesions to which he has no legal entitlement, and gets beaten to death by the home owner trying to protect his property. Clever.When I had my Porsche 911 - for about 4 years - I was terrified of 'jealousy stripes' like you've had. I was, therefore, VERY careful where I parked.
Even so, I had two 'downers.'
First: In the private car park of my Girlfriend's flat - came out in the morning to find puked-up sick all over the engine lid and rear of the car.
As the car was parked down a private drive, the purp would have had to have walked past the end of the drive, seen the car, and purposely walked down the drive to puke onto it. Ok, it was cleanable and removeable damage - but annoying because as it was over the grilles of the engine lid, it was on the bodywork but also over the top of the engine, and inside the airbox
Second: On my own driveway. Came out in the morning to find a tray of 'Chinese Take-Away Sweet and Sour Noodles' flung all over the back of the car. Annoyingly, as above, it all went inside the engine lid grilles and airbox, again!
Despite this damage all being cleanable and reversible - unlike key damage - I too would have cheerfully murdered the complete fking dinlow tts who did this to my pride and joy
