I've just spent the day enjoying some soft top motoring on a lovely sunny day. What puzzles me is the number of drivers around on such a day who have NOT got their tops down.

Why would you not put the top down when the suns out?

You normally pay a premium for a softtop motor so why pay more if you're not going to use it?

I'm I missing something? confused

The common reason I hear from my friends with Convertibles that do not make use of the roof-down facility is that it ruins their hair.

Interestingly I was a passenger in a MINI Convertible once and found that on the motorway it was incredibly blustery with the roof down (windows up) at 70mph. I wouldn't want to be in the back, that's for sure! Yet in the MX5 you can hold a proper conversation at those speeds, no problem.

I don't let it get to me, so long as I'm enjoying myself who cares what everyone else is doing?!

What gets me is the hundreds of threads about the same subject... oh this one again! There was a thread last week on this.

Always perplexes me too, as if its not raining ( and sometimes when it is on the motorway) I always have roof down..

probably because it's not in St Tropez it's too cold for them, or they think they won't be 'seen' by anyone in that location, or maybe the Trouble doesn't want to ruin the hairstyle...@mollycoddledwhimperingproductsofacossetedlifestyle

..or maybe they are just Fugly!

I had someone refuse a lift because it would mess up their hair once.

I am fugly though, but didn't care. You're never going to get thought of as cool being in one.

I always thought the rule was if it's dry the roof is down. Any precipitation, up.
